Five rules for boosting mobile users. Particularly...
Focus on building solutions, not apps… This quote is just music to my ears (and devices). I try to bang on about this wherever I go, but of course money is easier to collect in closed, walled garden apps so that’s where money in development goes. Slowly, solutions and strategy seem to be winning in the mobile space as some begin to realise short term gain is just long term pain.

Google Drive Will Launch With 5GB Of Free Storage,...
via phandroid.com
Still only a leaked screenshot, but GDrive is finally coming after years of rumours. Slightly confusing with Google Docs allowing pretty much the same upload of just about any file, but the more the merrier. With many already using Dropbox still nice to see competition.

Would Anyone Even Give An Employer Their Facebook...
Apparently some employers are asking for access to people’s Facebook profiles or private information? WTF? Passwords, really? You never give passwords to anyone, unless y’know you have a gun to your head, at which point it may be wise to share your farmville collection & drunken snaps toot suite. Personally I have nothing on my page I’d be too bothered to be seen publicly and at...

The Raid. One Action Packed Movie. Not Really One...
I was kindly offered a preview screening via Madmen films to what has been a very popular film in Asia and around the globe at festivals called ‘The Raid’. Set in Jakarta’s slums, a run down apartment block ran by a drug lord receives a swat team at dawn. Things don’t quite go as planned and, well, just take a look at the pretty violent trailer for a taste of what...

Animated GIFs: The Birth of a Medium. And How...
via youtube.com
GIFS, once the scourge of the interwebs, were almost banished for all but the newbies, but tumblr really brought these back in an incredibly creative way. A great overview video here that really from 4.15 on in the video hits a home run with beautifully creative aspects.
Expect to see GIF’s become much more mainstream…

Google Play.Strategically smart, and it's not...
via play.google.com No more one app marketplace, one G book store, one G music account, it’s all in one area now called Google Play. Games such as Need for Speed, Music from Lady Gaga and many others, ebooks, movies and android apps. Strategically this is a better way forward, it’s all online, mobile, and all centralised for all your media. (Hurry up with that Google TV dammit!) ...

via mashable.com If you are not yet aware that your future is categorically tinted green, courtesy of Android, then you need to take the red pill dude. You cannot hide behind your iPhone any longer, either get balanced and have both devices, or be a chump and ignore the ever increasing market stats. The reality is market wants choice and that is only a good thing for all. Monopolistic...

Dumbest deal of the year? Region blockers VEVO to...
via google.com A great article at econsultancy outlines how VEVO, a god awful consortium of record labels who confuse people on YouTube with double branding and region lock music videos because of a policy or licence, are set to get intimate with facebook and potentially remove themselves from YouTube. Frankly good riddance, I’m tired of seeing VEVO controlling on YouTube blocking...

The Oatmeal’s excellently biting satire on simply trying to watch a TV show I think encapsulates what TV and many walks of life seem to be increasing like today. (view the full cartoon)
Highly litigious and overly bloody complex.
What’s even sadder is The Oatmeal resides in the USA, and as frustrating as it is for him, it’s nowhere near as maddening as...
